He drew a circle that shut me out-
Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout.
But Love and I had the wit to win:
We drew a circle that took him in !

As of August 31, 2007, the Aurora Community Study Circles has ceased operations. This was due to limited funding. The staff and committee members of Aurora Community Study Circles would like to thank everyone for their guidance and support throughout the years. The website will continue to exist until summer of 2008.
The Aurora Community Study Circles award winning programs have made it possible for over 6000 participants in Aurora, IL to share their experiences, perceptions, beliefs, knowledge and information related to the challenging issues of diversity. Participants in the Aurora Community Study Circles programs, "Circles of Understanding" and "Many Young Voices" have become mentors, youth project leaders and have engaged in dialogue with public officials in an effort to foster healthy, inclusive community change.
What is a Study Circle?
Study Circles are groups of 12-15 people who come together to dialogue about important civic issues. In Aurora, study circles focus is on issues and concerns and other public issues.
More than talk!
By allowing each participant an equal opportunity to speak, all members of the group can gain from each other's unique wisdom and experience.
This process of discussion among equals is as important as the content of the discussions. The sharing of ideas is a dialogue, not a debate. Understanding, not agreement, is the objective.
What is our goal?
We are striving to become a community whose residents can more easily work and play together. The more Circles of Understanding we have, the greater the opportunity we have of building a diverse community-wide network that can develop solutions to racial and ethnic tensions and vital social issues.
