You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.

Our Events
Past Events
Aurora Community Study Circles has sponsored several major community information events. A teleconference, Building Hospitable Communities was cosponsored with Aurora University and the American Association of University Women, Aurora Branch. Making Peace, a public television series, was shown to a diverse group at the civic center auditorium with discussion following. A city-wide Unity Dinner was sponsored by the City of Aurora, ACSC, and the Latino Heritage Committee in honor of Latino Heritage Month. A round-table discussion among past participants of study circles was cosponsored by the American Association of University Women, Aurora Branch, and was recorded for television with a live audience. Whats All the Talk About, an evening with Senator Bill Bradley, served as a kick-off event. The showing of the film The Journey Toward Peace featuring Desmond TuTu and Dr. Hope Franklin followed by small group dialogue also constituted a major event. The Executive Director of ACSC and past study circles participants have made several local television appearances to promote Circles of Understanding.
Aurora Community Study Circles Board of Directors and other volunteers organize and promote two major fund raisers each year: the annual Phone-a-thon appeal was initiated in 2002, and the Downtown Aurora Taste, in cooperation with downtown restaurants, originated in 2003.
Each year Aurora Community Study Circles sponsors three major city-wide public events: Fall Kick-Off, Spring Alumni Picnic, and the very successful Taste of Aurora. ACSC participants have also been active in the City of Aurora 4th of July Parade.
